CURRICULUM


The South Tyrolean tenor is an awardwinner of several international singing competitions like "Feruccio Tagliavini" Deutschlandsberg 2015 (3rd place, audience prize, special prize critics, tenor prize) and "Accademia Belcanto" Graz (3rd place 2013 and 1st place 2014).

 

He began his professional vocal education after completing his architecture studies at the Graz University of Technology in 2011 at the Johann-JosephFux-Konservatorium of the City of Graz with Natela Nicoli and at the university of music and performing arts in Graz. Furthermore he took masterclasses with Kurt Widmer, Francisco Araiza, Giacomo Aragall, Angelika Kirchschlager, Eteri Lamoris, Maris Skuja, Claudia Rüggeberg and Stefanie Kopinits.

 

The tenor is a very popular performer in the opera genre, for example as Nemorino in "L'ELISIR D'AMORE" by Gaetano Donizetti at South Tyrolean Operetta Festival in Bolzano and Bressanone; Quint and Prolog in "THE TURN OF THE SCREW" by Benjamin Britten and Monostatos in "DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE" by Mozart at the MUMUTH Graz; first priest in "IL PRIGIONERO" by Luigi Dallapiccola at the Graz opera; Duke of Mantua in the opera "RIGOLETTO" by Giuseppe Verdi in Mautern in Styria and Graz as part of the Festival 'Art in Liesingtal'; Max in the children's opera "DER FREISCHÜTZ – KURZ UND BÜNDIG" after Carl Maria von Weber at the theater in the Palais KUG and Don Curzio in the Mozart opera "LE NOZZE DI FIGARO" at the music festival at Kirchstetten Castle.

 

Roman Pichler is also very active in the operetta genre: Alfred in "DIE FLEDERMAUS" by J. Strauss at the municipal theater of Bolzano; Jan Janicki in "DER BETTELSTUDENT" by Carl Millöcker on a tour of the company „Johann-Strauss-Operette-Wien“ through Germany; Baron Zsupan in "GRÄFIN MARIZA" and Count Boni in the "CSÁRDÁSFÜRSTIN" from Kálmán, Caramello in "EINE NACHT IN VENEDIG" and Alfred in "DIE FLEDERMAUS" by J. Strauss and Dr. Siedler in "IM WEISSEN RÖSSL" of Benatzky at South Tyrolean Operetta Festival in Bolzano and Bressanone; Edwin in the "CSÁRDÁSFÜRSTIN" by Emmerich Kálmán at the  Summerfestival at Schloss Kittsee and at the Operettenspiele Murau and Gustl in "FRÜHJAHRSPARADE" by Robert Stolz at the Schlossberg stage casemates Graz.

 

His comprehensive concert activity led the tenor to different Festivals all over Europe. He is particularly popular as an interpreter of spiritual music. Among other things, he sang the following works: "WINTERREISE" by Schubert, "REQUIEM" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "DIE SCHÖPFUNG" and "STABATMATER" by Haydn, "The 7 Last Words of Christ on the Cross" by César Franck, "PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE" by Rossini and a variety of fairs (Schubert, Haydn, Mozart, Nicolai, Gounod).

 

Roman Pichler currently lives with his family in Graz (AUT). In 2018 he will perform as Obadjah in the "ELIAS" by Mendelssohn in the Herzjesukirche Graz and in Friesach, as Uriel in an open-air performance of Haydn's oratorio "DIE SCHÖPFUNG" at the end of the 800th anniversary of the diocese Graz-Seckau in the Triebener Tauern, as 1st Jew in "SALOME" by Richard Strauss at the Graz Opera, as well as Stanislaus in the "VOGELHÄNDLER" by Zeller at the Südtiroler Operettenspiele.
