CURRICULUM


The tenor from Brixen in South Tyrol has won prizes at several international competitions such as "Feruccio Tagliavini" Deutschlandsberg 2015 (3rd place, audience prize, special prize for criticism, tenor prize), "Accademia Belcanto" Graz (3rd place 2013, 1st place 2014) and "AIMS Meistersinger - Competition" Graz 2018 (final honorary prize of the jury).

Roman Pichler studied at the Johann-Joseph-Fux-Konservatorium in Graz with Natela Nicoli and Hermine Haselböck and is a scholarship holder of the American Institute of Musical Studies.

To round off his studies, he attended master classes with Kurt Widmer, Francisco Araiza, Romualdo Savastano, Giacomo Aragall, Angelika Kirchschlager, David Brook, Linda Watson, Gabriele Lechner, Eteri Lamoris, Maris Skuja, Nathalie Doucet and Claudia Rüggeberg, among others.

Roman Pichler is very active in operas and operettas at venues such as the Graz Opera, MUKO Opera Leipzig, Stadttheater Bozen, Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Landestheater Coburg, Landestheater Niederbayern, Kasemattenbühne Graz, but also at various festivals such as the Südtiroler Operettenspiele and the Operette Sirnach , the Johann Strauss operetta in Vienna, at Kittsee Castle, the Kulturglashaus Völkermarkt, the Murauer Operettenspiele and the Pramtaler Sommeroperette.

 

He embodied roles such as Nemorino in "L`ELISIR D´AMORE" by Donizetti, Duca di Mantova in "RIGOLETTO" by Verdi, Peter Quint and Prologue in "THE TURN OF THE SCREW" and Nicolas in "SAINT NICOLAS CANTATA" by Britten, First Jew in " SALOME" by Richard Strauss and First Priest in "IL PRIGIONERO" by Dallapiccola, Tamino and Monostatos in "THE MAGIC FLUTE" by Mozart, Adam and Stanislaus in "VOGELHÄNDLER" by Zeller; Alfred in "DIE FLEDERMAUS", Graf Zedlau in "WIENER BLUT" and Caramello in "EINE NIGHT IN VENEDIG" by Johann Strauss; Count Tassilo and Baron Zsupan in "COUNTESS MARIZA" and Edwin and Boni in "CSÁRDÁSFÜRSTIN" by Kálmán; Dr. Siedler in "IM WEISSEN RÖSSL" by Benatzky; Jan in "THE BEGGAR STUDENT" by Millöcker; Raoul in "PARISER LEBEN" by Offenbach; Gustl in Robert Stolz's "SPRING PARADE" and many more.

A musical collaboration has so far resulted, among others, with the conductors Adam Fischer, Dirk Kaftan, Stefan Klingele, Kai Röhrig, Tobias Engeli, Johannes Prinz, Marius Burkert, Dario Salvi, Marzio Conti, Joji Hattori, Lukas Beikircher, Marius Stieghorst and Oksana Lyniv, as well as with orchestras such as the Haydn Orchestra Bozen, the Orchestra of the Musical Comedy Leipzig, the Graz Philharmonic and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.

Several CD recordings, a first recording for Naxos in the Sophia Bulgaria Hall with the role of Hellmuth in the rediscovered Johann Strauss operetta "BLINDE KUH" deserves special mention.

His extensive concert activities have taken the tenor to various festivals throughout Europe. He sang the following works, among others: "WINTERREISE" by Franz Schubert, "ELIAS" by Mendelssohn, "MESSIAH" by Händel, "REQUIEM" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, "THE SEASONS", "THE CREATION" and "STABAT MATER" by Haydn, "PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE" by Rossini and a large number of masses (Schubert, Haydn, Mozart, Nicolai, Gounod, etc.).

 

In the next season Roman Pichler will perform as Dr. Siedler in "WEISSEN RÖSSL" by Ralf Benatzky at the Landestheater Niederbayern and as Franjo in the Slovenian national opera "Gorenjski slavček" by Anton Foerster at the Graz Opera.
