CURRICULUM AND ARTISTIC CAREER

The tenor Roman Pichler was born in 1984 in Bressanone (South Tyrol). Although the singing runs like a golden thread through his life he can be called a "late starter" in this matter.

From childhood on he has always sung in choirs. His musical activities led from several children's choirs, the Vincentian Boys' Choir, the youth choir of Milland, the vocal ensemble NovAnitqua, the Young - Domkantorei Brixen, the parish choir Brixen and the school choir to piano lessons and the founding of the Men's Quartet, "White Tower Singers".

His performances as soloist and choral singer brought him to England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czech Republic and many towns and villages in South Tyrol.

In 2003 he began his architecture studies at the Technical University of Graz, but also in Graz singing remained an important issue for him. So he sang in the studio-choir of the university of arts (KUG), the Grazer Domkantorei and the University Choir Graz, in which he still sings.

Even in his year abroad in Venice, he was a member of the local student choir. He also participated in several productions at the university of arts as a choir-tenor and continued his concert career; among others he sang the Uriel in the oratorio "The Creation" by Joseph Haydn in Ottendorf. By participating in these projects, and frequent visits to the opera in Graz, he discovered his passion for opera.

In the summer of 2010 he hiked with his girlfriend for three months on the Camino from Bressanone to Santiago de Compostela. During this time he decided, to start taking singing lessons after all. Therefore he has been a disciple of Natella Nicoli since the autumn of 2010, first privately, and since February 2011 officially on the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory of Styria.

Since then he has performed in concerts at the Conservatory, the Minoritensaal, the Music saloon Erfurt and various churches in Styria. In addition, he could be heard as a tenor soloist at various fairs and concerts in South Tyrol. He attended a master class with KS Kurt Widmer from Basel.

In the fall of 2011 he graduated in architecture with honors. Then he was hired as tenor soloist at a gala concert to mark the 20th anniversary of the "Grazer Opern Freunde" together with renowned soloists from the Opera of Graz. He took part in the competition "Gradus ad Paranassum 2011" in Graz. Since October 2011 he is a member of the Extra-Choir of the Opera of Graz.

He also won the soloist competition 2012 of the Symphony Orchestra of the JJF Conservatory, to sing two concerts in the Raiffeisenhof and the MUMUTH in Graz.

In summer 2012 he played at the classical music festival at the castle in Lower Austria Kirchstetten the Don Curzio in the opera "The Marriage of Figaro" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

In the South Tyrolean Operetta Festival in autumn 2012, he embodyed the Count Boni Kancsianu in the operetta "The Gypsy Princess" by Emmerich Kálmán.
